How to be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi

Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, is a New York Times bestselling author, Professor of History and International Relations, and the Founding Director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University.

As one of America’s prominent figures in the antiracist movement, Dr. Ibram X. Kendi has made it his mission to reveal to the world the root of racism. He believes racism doesn’t stem from hate or ignorance but rather from our discriminatory policies and that subconsciously we are not aware that our policies are discriminatory to begin with. This claim has sparked national attention and he has been greatly successful in getting his message out to the public due to his passion for the topic and his ability to connect and relate to the young and older populations. Being only 36 years old himself, he has emerged at the forefront of the antiracist movement and has fought tirelessly to address racism. His goal is to rid the world of racism by eliminating our current discriminatory policies that render African Americans inferior.

Dr. Ibram X. Kendi was born in Queens New York and attended Florida A&M for his undergraduate studies. Shortly after, he attended Temple University in Pennsylvania, where he obtained his PhD in African American studies. Upon completion, he entered the field of research and academia where he would go onto embark on his journey to address racism.
